The following information may be helpful when preparing for your upcoming surgery. Please do not hesitate to call if you have any questions. We can be reached at our Washington Court House office 740.335.8877.
Blood Thinning Medications
It may be important to stop taking aspirin and non-steroidals such as Motrin and Advil, prior to your surgery. If you are taking Coumadin or another blood thinner, remember you may need to discontinue them, but only as directed by your physician.
Dental Premedication
If you take antibiotic premedication, it is very important that you take it as directed by your physician before your surgery.
Antibiotics
Please alert the office to any allergies or sensitivities that you might have to antibiotics. You will be prescribed an antibiotic if our doctor determines it to be necessary. Take as directed until gone. It is advisable not to take these medications on an empty stomach, as nausea may result.
For women taking birth control pills, be advised that antibiotics may interfere with their effectiveness and alternative birth control should be used for the month.
Dental Anxiety
If you suffer from dental anxiety, anti-anxiety medication can be prescribed to help make you comfortable during your appointment. If you elect to use oral medication for anxiety, you must have a ride to and from the office and have someone stay with you until you are fully alert. Medication will be prescribed for you following a thorough review of your medical history and if necessary a consult with your primary care physician.
